PAOLO ICARO. UNENDING INCIPIT
The volume on Paolo Icaro was published in occasion of the exhibition, which was curated by Davide Ferri and Saverio Verini, produced by Magonza and held at the Pinacoteca Comunale in Città di Castello (10th December – 28th January 2018).
Showing a selection of the most significant works and the site specific installation, which is thought for the Pinacoteca garden, the catalogue collects the most important outcomes of the artist’s theoretical and plastic research.
For the first time, a systematical analysis of the fundamental role of writing and the role of the
word in Icaro’s works is provided in the catalogue, which is also supplied with a rich iconographic appendix and with critical essays by the curators. The book reinterprets the artist’s sculptural work highlighting the relationships between itself and the audience space, body and gaze. Using the most disparate materials, such as plaster, steel, lead, glass and aluminum, the artist rebuilds a “second nature” that develops itself among the relationships and the contrasts between precariousness and immanence, balance and fall, gravity and levitation.
