MARCO GASTINI
«Painting is its own adventure; it is that ‘something’ that comes together marvellously in the presence of the senses as they extend between the work of art and its lover. A silence that reaches out to space; a risk constantly run and won like a gamble. The one that Gastini has always won. »
This is how Bruno Corà describes the art of the pioneer of analytical painting, Marco Gastini, in this new volume – also provided with coloured boards− that belongs to the monographic section of the “fireflies” collection. The artist forces the matter to reveal itself through his works, released form the matter, that free the form and the imagery. His painting is characterised by an overabundance of materic fragments – paper, glass, wood, iron, paint – gaining a personal identity: it digresses and conquers the wall. This art « would seem to be engaged in constant self-justification – even to restate its actual necessity»
