``... MA UN'ESTENSIONE``. GASTINI, ICARO, MATTIACCI, SPAGNULO
Published on the occasion of the exhibition held at the Ca’ Pesaro – International Gallery of Modern Art in Venice, the catalogue is a dialectical confrontation among four artists of the contemporary scene: Gastini, Icaro, Mattiacci and Spagnulo. Bruno Corà, the curator who worked together with the scientific direction of Gabriella Belli, said: «Despite the differences highlighted in their works, they share and implement, both in sculpture and painting, the principles prophesied by Medardo Rosso, Umberto Boccioni ( “we will put the observer at the center of the painting”) and by Arturo Martini, who hoped for teh vocation of sculpture: “Let me not be an object, but an extension” […]». The catalogue traces the relationships and the formal, stylistic and linguistic researches of the artists, starting from the dialectic between painting and sculpture of Gastini, and the questioning of the concepts of closure and heaviness of Icaro, to the cosmic scale spatial experimentations of Mattiacci, until the “lightness” of the most material and powerful works by Spagnulo.
