LUIS GOMEZ DE TERAN. ANCHE QUANDO L’ALBA NON C’ERA
“In January I rediscovered Matera, the Matera I prefer, the town that in the stillness would whisper to the child hidden in all of us to take the most adventurous road, to run down the steepest stairs, to climb up to the highest lookout”. (Luis Gomes de Teran)
The volume was published in the occasion of the homonym exhibition held at the MUSMA in Matera, from the 5th May to the 30th June 2019. It is the story the Venezuelan artist dedicated to the City of Stones and to its frenetic mutations. The works, created from the matter for stimulating the audience to be patient, empathic and to reflect, , are made of plexiglass and cement and enlighten an ambivalent dialectic between the sense and the materials. In fact, as the artist claims: “I wanted to make works that clearly showed a strong contrast, as essentially our lives are based on contrasts, between body and spirit, kindness and evil all the things we are compelled to be, and those we wish to be”.
