EMILIO SCANAVINO. GENESI DELLE FORME / THE ORIGIN OF SHAPES

This is how Emilio Scanavino described his gift for photography. In this book thephotographs by Emilio Scanavino are published for the first time, in a great selectionfrom the Archive of the artist. The essays written by Cristina Casero and Elisabetta Longariexplain the works published in the volume and exhibited in Emilio Scanavino: TheOrigin of Shapes at Palazzo Pigorini, Parma (9 November – 15 December 2019).
What interested Scanavino was not the aesthetic or formal quality of the shots, but the medium of photography as a tool for the study and analysis of the vast visual universe he found in walls and stones, ropes, barbed wire, grafts and insects. The volume also includes a selection of Scanavino’s original works, which together with the photos provide a vibrant path of discovery.
