CHRISTO AND JEANNE-CLAUDE. RI – VELARE
«The large-scale,ambitious works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, their installations and projects, in part inspired by Man Ray’s 1920 masterpiece, L’enigme d’Isidore Ducasse […] teach us above all to re-learn to see, urging us to re-discover with new eyes» (Paolo Repetto).
Published on the occasion of the exhibition Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Ri-velare, held at De Primi Fine Art in Lugano (16th September – 28th October 2016), it traces back a series of installations and projects which have been created since 1963 as, for example, Show Cases, 5.600 Cubicmeter Package at dOCUMENTA IV, Wrapped Trees, Wrapped Monuments and The Mastaba and Over the River (works yet to be realized).
Outlined using explanatory texts and photographs of the settings, each project is accompanied by an iconography of drawings, analysis, collages, works on paper and sketches that have represented a preliminary design and deepening phase of those same installations.
