A MODO MIO. NESPOLO TRA ARTE, CINEMA E TEATRO
“Nespolo […] seems to be always himself despite his infinite disguises and his recurrent linguistic and metalinguistic camouflages, where everything is too serious for not perceiving it ironically”. Alberto Fiz’s words introduce an important figure for the italian scene of contemporary art. Fiz was the curator of the exhibition for which the catalogue was made (Aosta, Saint-Bénin Center, 20th October 2017 – 8th April 2018), and he collaborated with Maurizio Ferrari in the process of editing.
The volume traces a selection of significant works that has been created by Nespolo from 1967 until today. They can be paintings, drawings, theatre maquettes, carpets, pieces of forniture, photographs or multi-material installations, also concentrating on the sphere of experimental cinema, short films and cartoons.
The consequence of the artist’s transgressive and unconventional approach is the reinterpretation of art history, its protagonists and the relationship between the expositional space and its visitor.
