A quality catalogue and a
targeted, competent distribution.

Since its foundation, Magonza has focused great attention on the quality of its catalogue by carefully selecting its artists, authors and cultural partners. At the same time it offers them an extensive international distribution service by drawing on a network of distributors in Italy, Europe, the USA and Russia, which has progressively increased to more than 10,000 points of sale. The sector’s large chain stores, museum bookshops and major online channels are supplied weekly, whereas independent and specialised art bookstores are supplied and supported through a direct relationship. This allows for greater efficiency, cost reduction, and also the use of these premises for organising ad hoc promotional cultural events for each project, involving artists, curators and authors.

As a result of Magonza’s ability (unique within the sector) to provide a complete range of services, from strictly editorial aspects to the production and realisation of multiple works and projects with artists, including exhibition design and production, it has established solid collaborative relationships with international institutions and foundations, as well as close associations with artists and intellectuals who work, or have worked, in the visual arts sector (Barry X Ball, Calzolari, Icaro, Kounellis, Pistoletto, Scully, Parmiggiani), thus building a capacity for penetration and visibility unique in the world of contemporary art publishing.

Our partnerships position our publications within a prestigious international circuit

Noteworthy among our international collaboration with foreign institutions is the co-edition with Yale University Press and The Phillips Collection of the volume on William Merritt Chase; the co-edition with Fondation Bemberg of Toulouse and the Louvre of Pierre Rosenberg’s book on masterpieces of French drawing; collaboration with The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation on two international exhibition projects and their respective publications (VIBE and Josef Albers. Anatomy of Homage to the Square), as well as close cooperation with the Fondation Hartung-Bergman, Antibes. Among the Italian institutions that collaborate with Magonza are FAI Fondo Ambiente Italiano, Fondazione Palazzo Albizzini Collezione Burri, the MAN museum in Nuoro, Sardegna, MUVE Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, the MAXXI in Rome, and the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria in Perugia. The expert quality of our publications has enabled us to establish a rapport with universities, cultural associations and libraries, with whom we share our research by offering them publications of interest free of charge for their studies and specific investigations.

Thanks to new technologies, our books not only circulate in the physical world, but also in new virtual spaces

In addition to the activities mentioned, Magonza is also potentialising its use of new technological promotional tools. We constantly update our website, where visitors can consult our catalogue, buy books online at discounted prices and take a look at the contents. We are also present on social media networks, where posts and announcements related to new releases and promotional events are always accompanied by further elaboration through in-depth videos with artists and curators, and the direct streaming of events such as inaugurations and conferences.
